99-04 GV/Vitara/Tracker and early model XL7's came with an air actuated front differential. In a bid to keep up with the times of 4WD on the fly shifting Suzuki created the infamous air actuated front differential to try and alleviate the shock on the drivetrain when shifting into 4WD at speed. The air actuator is prone to failure in multiple ways from air bladder leaks, air pump leaks/failure or leaks along the lines that run from pump to bladder. All of this can be cured by deleting the air actuator and keeping the gears engaged on the inside, stopping the possibility of you losing 4WD deep in the woods and getting stranded at the most inopportune time.
